Limited Edition Clear Vinyl 2LP

Peaceville's limited clear vinyl reissue of Still Life carries catalog number VILELP78PHD and spreads the album's seven songs over two LPs. "The Moor" has side A to itself, and each of the other three sides holds two songs, ending with "Serenity Painted Death" and "White Cluster" on side D.

Still Life is Opeth's fourth studio album and the only one of their studio albums first released by Peaceville. The label issued it in Europe on October 18, 1999, and it did not reach US stores until February 27, 2001. The band recorded it between April 15 and May 29, 1999, at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg and at Maestro Musik, and produced it with Fredrik Nordström, who engineered and mixed it. Göran Finnberg did the mastering. It was the first Opeth album with bassist Martín Méndez, who joined Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocals and guitar, Peter Lindgren on guitar and Martin Lopez on drums.

Like My Arms, Your Hearse before it, Still Life is a concept album. As Åkerfeldt has described it, a man banished from his hometown for not sharing its Christian faith comes back years later for Melinda and is set against the town's council. Melinda is killed, and "White Cluster" closes the story with his execution.

Decibel inducted Still Life into its Hall of Fame, and Metal Hammer named it one of the 20 best metal albums of 1999.
