Transparent Blue 2LP Edition, Remastered and Cut at Half Speed

Candlelight's 2023 edition of My Arms, Your Hearse is pressed on two transparent blue LPs, the color printed on the front sticker with catalog number CANDLE331908. The audio is a new remaster by Jens Bogren, prepared with input from Mikael Åkerfeldt, and the half-speed cutting was done by Miles Showell at Abbey Road. Per the label, the vinyl is 140 grams and Dan Capp restored the original artwork, which is housed in a gatefold sleeve with an obi strip.

Candlelight describes the record as one conceptual piece, each track blending into the next, and the nine songs sit two or three to a side, from "Prologue", "April Ethereal" and "When" on side A to "Karma" and "Epilogue" on side D. Celtic Frost's "Circle of the Tyrant" and Iron Maiden's "Remember Tomorrow", the two covers added to the 2000 reissue, are not included.

Recorded in August and September 1997 at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, it was Opeth's third album and the first with drummer Martin Lopez. Fredrik Nordström produced it with the band and Anders Fridén, engineered the sessions, and played Hammond organ on "Epilogue". Martín Méndez had joined on bass but had too little time to learn the parts, so Åkerfeldt played bass for the whole session.

Åkerfeldt wrote all of the lyrics before any music, making it Opeth's first concept album: a man dies and returns as a ghost who cannot reach the people he left behind. Each song ends on a word that names the next one, so "April Ethereal" closes on "when". The title is taken from the lyrics of "Drip Drip" by the English band Comus, and the album is dedicated to Lee Barrett of Candlelight. It came out in August 1998 on Candlelight in Europe and Century Black in the US.
