Pink Floyd Records issued this pressing in the United States on August 26, 2016 under catalog number PFRLP11. Two 180-gram LPs sit in a gatefold jacket that reproduces the white brick sleeve, with printed inner sleeves, and the record labels and inner artwork carry Gerald Scarfe's drawings. The audio is remastered from the original analogue tapes by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman.

The Wall was Pink Floyd's eleventh studio album, released in November 1979. The band recorded it between December 1978 and November 1979, working at Britannia Row in London, Super Bear near Nice, Miraval at Correns, CBS 30th Street in New York, and Producers Workshop and Cherokee in Hollywood. Bob Ezrin co-produced with David Gilmour and James Guthrie. Roger Waters said he had wanted "a collaborator who was musically and intellectually in a similar place to where I was."

Richard Wright left the band during the sessions and played the tour that followed as a salaried musician. This is the last Pink Floyd studio album made by the line-up of Gilmour, Waters, Wright and Nick Mason.

Waters has traced the concept to the In the Flesh tour of 1977: after he spat at a member of the audience at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on July 6 that year, he found himself imagining a wall between the stage and the crowd. The record follows Pink, a character drawn partly from Waters himself and partly from Syd Barrett.

Children from Islington Green School sing on "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2," the video above. It went to number one in the United Kingdom on November 23, 1979 and in the United States on January 7, 1980, and it remains the band's only chart-topping single in either country. The album held number one on the Billboard 200 for fifteen weeks, is certified 23 times platinum by the RIAA, and has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
