This is the black vinyl edition of 8-Tracks: a single 180-gram LP carrying four songs on each side. A sticker on the front of the jacket names four of them, "Wish You Were Here," "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2," "Comfortably Numb" and "Money." The same program was also pressed on blue vinyl, and on pink vinyl sold through Target in the United States, each of those under a barcode of its own.

Sony Music released the compilation in 2026, with Tyler Pittman credited as compilation producer, Peter Curzon as designer and Josh Cheuse as creative director. It covers 1971 to 1979 through six albums: Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall. Steven Wilson edited the sequence, going back to the original multitrack tapes for sound effects that let each song cross into the next.

Side B ends with "Pigs On The Wing" in the form it took on the 1977 8-track cartridge of Animals, the version heard in the video above. The Animals LP splits the song into two short parts that open and close the record; the cartridge ran it as one piece with a guitar solo by Snowy White. Pink Floyd's own announcement notes that this version was previously available only on that cartridge.
