Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (50th Anniversary Vinyl)

50th Anniversary Remaster, 180 Gram Black Vinyl

This single LP is the 50th anniversary edition of The Dark Side of the Moon, remastered by James Guthrie and pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Pink Floyd Records first issued it on October 13, 2023, as catalog number PFR50LP1, in a gatefold jacket that also holds posters and stickers. Side A runs from "Speak to Me" through "The Great Gig in the Sky," and side B opens with "Money," heard in its 2023 remaster in the video above.

The band recorded the album at EMI Studios, now Abbey Road Studios, in about 60 days between May 31, 1972, and February 9, 1973, with staff engineer Alan Parsons. Roger Waters conceived it around the pressures of the band's working life and the mental health problems of former member Syd Barrett. Session singer Clare Torry, recruited by Parsons, is the voice on "The Great Gig in the Sky."

Capitol released it in the United States on March 1, 1973, and Harvest in the UK on March 16. It topped the US Billboard chart, where it has spent 996 weeks, and is certified 14 times platinum in the UK. Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis designed the prism sleeve, which George Hardie drew. The Library of Congress added the album to the National Recording Registry in 2012.
