180 Gram 2LP in a Gatefold Jacket

This is the first vinyl edition of A Foot in the Door: two 180-gram LPs in a gatefold jacket, each in its own printed inner sleeve, issued by Pink Floyd Records in 2018 as PFRLP21. James Guthrie, a longstanding Pink Floyd associate, mastered it for vinyl with Joel Plante, and Bernie Grundman cut the lacquers at Grundman Mastering in Los Angeles.

Pink Floyd Records' notes point to at least one difference from the CD: "Time" runs longer on the vinyl, with the ringing alarm clocks at the start of the track restored after being left off the CD. Pink Floyd creative director Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis and Peter Curzon also reworked the sleeve, using alternate versions of the photographs from the CD package.

The compilation first appeared on CD in November 2011, during the Why Pink Floyd...? reissue campaign. Its sixteen tracks range from "See Emily Play," the 1967 single that was the band's first UK Top 10 hit, to "High Hopes" from The Division Bell in 1994; "Learning To Fly," in the video above, closes side C. The label's notes describe the artwork as the last work of longtime Pink Floyd designer Storm Thorgerson. Pink Floyd's own site explains the title as the salesman's trick of keeping a foot in a closing door, an opening for listeners new to the catalog. The album peaked at No. 14 on the UK Official Albums Chart and reached No. 3 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.
