This is the Pink Floyd Records pressing of Meddle, catalog number PFRLP6, issued in the United States on September 23, 2016, on one 180-gram black LP. The hype sticker on the shrink-wrap names the original analogue tapes as the source and James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman as the remastering team, and Grundman cut the lacquers. The same sticker prints the running order by side and the album's original UK release month, November 1971, and the jacket is a textured gatefold.

Pink Floyd made the record between tour dates from January to August 1971, working at Air Studios, EMI Studios at Abbey Road and Morgan Studios in London, and produced it themselves. Harvest released it that year as the band's sixth studio album.

"Echoes" takes up all of side two. It grew from a piano note of Richard Wright's fed through a Leslie speaker, which produced a submarine-like ping; the band tried and failed to recreate the sound in the studio, so the demo recording was kept. On "One of These Days," the opener heard in the video above, Roger Waters and David Gilmour both play bass, one of them on old strings, and Nick Mason's one spoken line was recorded at double speed.

The album reached number three on the UK Albums Chart and number 70 on the Billboard 200. The RIAA certified it gold in 1973 and double platinum in 1994. Bob Dowling took the cover photograph, an ear under water collecting waves of sound.
