50th Anniversary 3LP Box Set On 180g Black Vinyl

This is the three-record vinyl edition of Wish You Were Here 50, issued by Columbia and Sony Music under catalog number 19802876711. Three 180-gram black LPs come in a box: one carries the original album across sides A and B, and the other two hold nine studio rarities across sides C through F. On the US copies documented on Discogs, the runouts are marked "BG" for Bernie Grundman and carry Memphis Record Pressing job numbers.

Of the nine rarities, six are previously unreleased. James Guthrie newly mixed four of those six, and the remaining two appear in their original studio mixes. Side C opens with "Wine Glasses," which Positive Feedback's review of the set describes as "the acoustically created precursor to the opening of 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond.'" The opening of the finished song uses leftovers from the band's unfinished Household Objects sessions, where a wet finger was run around the rims of glasses holding different amounts of liquid and the notes were stacked into chords.

Side F is given over to a single track, a 2025 stereo mix that runs "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from Part 1 to Part 9 without a break. Its official video is set to a painting by Noel Fielding.

Guthrie's history with this album predates the anniversary by more than three decades: he remastered it with Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab in 1992, made its 5.1 surround mix in 2009, and remastered it again with Joel Plante in 2011. Wish You Were Here was Pink Floyd's first album for Columbia in the US, where it came out on September 13, 1975. In 2025 it went to No. 1 on the UK, Scottish, Italian and Swiss albums charts, and on December 12, 2025, the release date of this edition, the RIAA certified it seven times platinum.
