White Vinyl 2LP Reissue

Black Earth pressed on two white vinyl LPs, issued by [PIAS] Recordings Germany. The edition follows the label's double-LP rerelease of the album in December 2016.

Wonder Records released Black Earth in 2002, and Ipecac reissued it in 2004.

The quartet on the record is Thorsten Benning on drums, Christoph Clöser on tenor saxophone and Rhodes, Morten Gass on piano, Mellotron and Rhodes, and Robin Rodenberg on double bass. Gass recorded the sessions at Dark Victory Studios in Mülheim; the band produced and mixed it, and Calyx Mastering in Berlin handled the master. The skull on the cover is Gass's drawing.

Nine pieces make up the album, from "Midnight Black Earth" to "The Art of Coffins," a closer that runs just over twelve minutes.
