Black Vinyl in a Gatefold Jacket
Epic and Legacy's single-LP edition of Bad, catalog number 88875143741, comes in a gatefold jacket and carries the ten songs of the original vinyl, five to a side. "Leave Me Alone," the bonus track on the CD, is not included.
Jackson wrote eight of these ten songs. The other two came from outside writers: "Just Good Friends," by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, and "Man in the Mirror," by Siedah Garrett and Glen Ballard. Garrett also sings with Jackson on "I Just Can't Stop Loving You."
Work on the album at Westlake Studios in Los Angeles stretched from January 1985 to July 1987, with Quincy Jones producing a third Jackson album. Bad was his first studio album since Thriller.
It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 and stayed there for six weeks, the fastest-selling album in US history at that point. It won the Grammy for Best Engineered Recording, Non-Classical, and was nominated for Album of the Year. The title song's short film is above.
