Epic and Legacy first issued this single-LP edition of Off the Wall in 2016, catalog number 88875189421, in a gatefold jacket, with four songs on side one and six on side two.

Released on August 10, 1979, it was Jackson's fifth solo studio album and his first for Epic, and it began his work with Quincy Jones, whom he had come to know while filming The Wiz. Recording ran from December 1978 to June 1979 at Allen Zentz Recording, Westlake and Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles.

Jackson wrote or co-wrote "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Workin' Day and Night" and "Get on the Floor." Rod Temperton wrote "Rock with You," the title song and "Burn This Disco Out"; Paul McCartney wrote "Girlfriend"; and Stevie Wonder co-wrote "I Can't Help It."

Off the Wall reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and made Jackson the first solo artist to take four US Top 10 singles from one album. "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," the video above, won him the Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, and the album entered the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008.
