1979 US pressing, Mango MLPS 9567, pressed at Keel Mfg. Corp.

This is the 1979 US Mango edition of Harder Than The Best, pressed by Keel Mfg. Corp., whose ᐉ mark is stamped in the runouts beside a stamped Sterling credit. John Dent mastered it at The Sound Clinic, and the lacquers were cut at Sterling Sound.

The object

The labels title several songs differently from the jacket: side A opens as The Ghost (Marcus Garvey), and the jacket's separate Black Wa-Da-Da is joined to The Invasion as one track, leaving five songs on side A against the six the jacket lists. Label matrices read MLPS-9567-A and MLPS-9567-B.

Context

The set gathers Burning Spear recordings from 1975 to 1978, drawn from the Marcus Garvey, Garvey's Ghost, Man In The Hills, Dry & Heavy, Live and Social Living albums. Winston Rodney wrote most of it, with Phillip Fullwood credited as co-writer on several songs.
