Craft Recordings' 2026 reissue presents Slide It In as North America first heard it: the US mix and the US running order, ten songs over two sides, opening with the title track. This is the standard black-vinyl edition, catalog number CR01042. Craft also pressed an Onyx edition sold only through its own store, and reissued Whitesnake and Slip of the Tongue on the same day.

The album first came out in the UK in February 1984 on Liberty and EMI, recorded at Musicland Studios in Munich with Martin Birch producing, and sequenced to open with "Gambler." Geffen, which released it in North America that April, turned down the original mix, and Keith Olsen remixed the record in Los Angeles. For the new mix John Sykes' guitar was laid over the top, and Neil Murray replaced the bass parts Colin Hodgkinson had recorded.

The back cover of this pressing carries the US credits: David Coverdale on vocals, Jon Lord on keyboards, Mel Galley on guitar and vocals, John Sykes on guitar, Neil Murray on bass and Cozy Powell on drums, produced by Martin Birch and mixed by Keith Olsen. It also thanks Eddie Kramer, whom Birch replaced as producer, and credits the original mastering to Greg Fulginiti at Artisan Sound Recorders.

Slide It In reached number nine in the UK and number 40 on the Billboard 200, the band's first US Top 40 album, and the RIAA certifies it double platinum. "Slow an' Easy" climbed to number 17 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart and "Love Ain't No Stranger" to number 33, while "Give Me More Time" and "Guilty of Love" reached numbers 29 and 31 in the UK. The video above is "Love Ain't No Stranger," directed by Mark Rezyka and shot in Hollywood for Geffen.
