The last Sundays album, back in print from Parlophone in 2026: one 140-gram black LP, barcode and catalog number 5021732511492. The disc label numbers side one 1 to 6, from "Summertime" to "I Can't Wait," and credits the songs to David Gavurin and Harriet Wheeler.

Static & Silence appeared on September 22, 1997 in the UK, five years after Blind, with Wheeler and Gavurin having become parents in between and much of the record made at their own studio. It was the band's highest UK placing, No. 10 on the albums chart, and their highest on the Billboard 200 at No. 33.

"Summertime," the video above, reached No. 15 in Britain. "Cry" followed and stopped at No. 69, and "When I'm Thinking About You" was the third single drawn from the album.

The two of them gave few interviews for it. Gavurin described what the lyrics were reaching for: "In our lyrics, we're trying to talk about the fact that, for us at least, there's a lot of confusion around... You're flitting around from the most trivial thought to maybe a deeper, larger metaphysical thought." Wheeler, on the business around the record: "We're not interested in the flashiness of it all." It remains their final album.
