1983 Canadian pressing, Greensleeves CGR/GREL 52, manufactured by Shanachie
Greensleeves issued No More Friend in the UK in 1983 as GREL 52. This copy is the Canadian edition, manufactured in Canada by Shanachie Records Corp., and its labels number it CGR 52 with the UK number GREL 52 in brackets.
The object
The labels are yellow with the green Greensleeves logo and give the side as A or B, stereo, at 33-1/3 RPM. A 1983 Shanachie Records Corp. phonographic line and a 1983 Greensleeves Records Ltd. copyright line sit near the foot of each label, above rim text reading Manufactured in Canada by Shanachie Records Corp. The runouts read GREL 52 A and GREL 52 B. The jacket was fabricated and printed in Canada; its front shows three members of the group against yellow and pale blue stripes beneath the group name in green, and the back carries a history of the group. Tony McDermott designed the cover, Patrick Griffith took the photographs and Steve Angel mastered the record.
Context
The album and this Canadian issue both date from 1983. Linval Thompson produced it with the Roots Radics as the backing band, recording and mixing at Channel One in Kingston, where Soldgie mixed the sessions.
