Garbageman Grape Vinyl, RSD Essentials
The Cramps' 1980 debut studio album and a foundational psychobilly record, released in the US on I.R.S. Records. It was produced by Alex Chilton of Big Star at Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis, and captures the band's early lineup of Lux Interior, Poison Ivy, Bryan Gregory, and Nick Knox. The Cramps worked without a bassist, building their sound around two guitars, and the album pairs originals such as "TV Set" and "Garbageman" with covers including the Sonics' "Strychnine" and the standard "Fever." This Record Store Day Essentials reissue (#103) is pressed on Garbageman Grape vinyl.
