Orange & Red Splatter Vinyl LP With Printed Inner Sleeve

This 2023 BMG reissue presses The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome on orange and red splatter vinyl, catalog number BMGCAT715LP, and adds a printed inner sleeve. Tim Turan remastered the album at Turan Audio, and Chris Ingham is credited with the liner notes. Side A holds six songs; side B holds four and opens with "Ready to Explode," an eight-and-a-half-minute song about motor racing.

The album is Slade's eleventh, released by RCA in December 1983 and recorded mostly during 1982 at Portland Studios and RAK in London. Jim Lea produced most of it. When RCA judged the early tracks short on singles, John Punter was brought in to produce "My Oh My" and "Run Runaway." Holder suggested the title after reading about the "kamikaze complex" of motor racers.

"My Oh My" reached No. 2 in the UK over Christmas 1983 and "Run Runaway" reached No. 7. In 1984 CBS Associated repackaged the album for the US and Canada as Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply, and both songs entered the US Top 40. The album reached No. 49 in the UK and No. 1 in Sweden. Kerrang!'s Chris Welch found it "all very loud, fast and boisterous," and Sounds wrote that Slade were "still capable of rocking harder and catchier than most bands half their age."
