Transparent & Smokey White Vinyl LP

BMG issued this edition in 2022 as Deluxe Crackers, pressed on transparent and smokey white vinyl under catalog number BMGCAT716LP. It adds "Merry Xmas Everybody," first released as a single in 1973, to the album for the first time, as the opening song on side A. Sixteen songs play eight to a side; the 20-track CD edition carries four more that are not on this LP.

Crackers was first released on November 18, 1985. After Rogues Gallery, Telstar asked the band for a Christmas party album, and Slade filled it with covers such as "Let's Dance," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Hi Ho Silver Lining" and "Auld Lang Syne/You'll Never Walk Alone," new recordings of "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Get Down and Get With It," and songs from their earlier catalog. Jim Lea produced it, with John Punter producing four tracks. It reached No. 34 in the UK and was certified Gold by the BPI.

Noddy Holder told Kerrang! in 1985, "It was fun doing the project and I hope it's fun to listen to." Dave Hill heard busker Victor Herman playing bagpipes on Oxford Street and invited him to play on "Auld Lang Syne"; Herman later returned his fee by post, and the band gave him one of their Gold Discs at the album's release party. Kerrang!'s Malcolm Dome called it the "party album of the year."
