"Northern Lights" Blue & Green Swirl Vinyl, Foil Numbered

JEMP Records released this edition on June 30, 2023, the first time Farmhouse was issued as a double LP; the 2000 vinyl was a single disc cut from a digital source. The flat masters for this one were assembled from the original half-inch stereo reels, and Chris Bellman of Bernie Grundman Mastering cut the lacquers. Both 180-gram discs are a blue-green swirl the band calls "Northern Lights," the deluxe gatefold credits Danny Clinch for photography, and each copy carries its own number, foil-stamped on the back cover. The sticker on the front notes that the vinyl was pressed in the Czech Republic. Catalog number JEMP1104.

Farmhouse is Phish's ninth studio album, released by Elektra on May 16, 2000, and the last before the band's hiatus from October 2000 to December 2002. John Siket recorded and mixed it at The Barn, Trey Anastasio's studio in Vermont, between October 1999 and February 2000, with Bryce Goggin and Anastasio producing and Bob Ludwig mastering. Anastasio wrote the songs with lyricist Tom Marshall, with contributions from Tony Markellis, Russ Lawton and Scott Herman, and every one of them was already in the band's live rotation. The opening of "Piper" is taken from a concert recording made at Camp Oswego in Volney, New York, on July 18, 1999.

Anastasio arranged the horns on "Gotta Jibboo," played by Dave Grippo, Jen Hartswick and Andy Moroz, and the strings on "Dirt." Béla Fleck plays banjo and Jerry Douglas dobro on the instrumental "The Inlaw Josie Wales." "Heavy Things" became the band's only song on a mainstream pop radio format, reaching No. 29 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 and No. 2 on the Adult Alternative chart, and "First Tube" was nominated for the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. The RIAA certified the album Gold on January 30, 2006.
