This green 180-gram LP is the Security entry in the Vinyl Voice Edition series of Gabriel's first four albums, released in the US on November 1, 2024. It keeps the original sleeve design and includes a code for a hi-res download.
Gabriel made the album at Ashcombe House in Somerset between spring 1981 and summer 1982, co-producing with David Lord. He sampled sounds with a Fairlight CMI, a scrapyard among them, and the record was mixed to a Sony digital two-track, making it his first fully digital recording. Geffen titled it Security for the US and Canada; elsewhere it was simply Peter Gabriel.
Released September 10, 1982, it reached No. 6 in the UK and No. 28 on the Billboard 200, and "Shock the Monkey," the video above, became his first Top 30 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The cover, a heavily distorted image of Gabriel's face, came from the sculptor Malcolm Poynter.

Shipping Speeds & Delivery Estimates
Delivery timelines are estimates, not guarantees.
Estimated delivery windows are quoted at checkout based on the shipping speed you select and your delivery address. Transit time begins after your order has been processed.
Typical delivery within the United States ranges from 3–7 business days after shipment, depending on location and selected service. Delivery times for Canada vary by destination and carrier, and may be affected by customs processing.
While most deliveries arrive within the quoted window, occasional delays may occur due to weather, carrier volume, or other factors outside our control.
Shipping Rates
Shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed.
Signature Requirements
Orders totaling over $250 may require a signature upon delivery to help ensure safe receipt. This is applied based on order value and carrier guidelines.
Tracking & Safe Delivery
Once your order ships, you’ll receive tracking information via email. We recommend monitoring tracking updates and ensuring delivery to a secure location.
Evergreen Vinyl is not responsible for packages that are lost or stolen after being marked as delivered by the carrier. Customers are responsible for selecting a shipping address where deliveries can be received safely.
