White With Blood Red, Black & Sky Blue Splatter Vinyl LP

This is the third press of The Tyranny of Will from Relapse Records: white vinyl splattered with blood red, black and sky blue. The 2014 first press ran to 3,400 black, 1,000 red and 500 red-and-black merge copies, and a second press of 500 black came after it. All 24 songs fit on one LP. The center label in Relapse's image of this pressing prints Side A as the title track through "Broken Bottles," which leaves the last twelve for Side B.

Released on September 16, 2014, it was Iron Reagan's first album for Relapse and the follow-up to their 2013 debut on A389 Recordings. It entered Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart at No. 22.

Recording ran from February to April 2014 at Blaze of Torment Studios in Richmond, with Phil Hall producing. Kurt Ballou handled the mix in Salem, Massachusetts, and Brad Boatright the mastering. Tony Foresta sang, Mark Bronzino and Hall played guitar, Ryan Parrish played drums, and Rob Skotis made his first album with the band on bass. Luna Duran guests on "Consensual Harassment."

Twenty of the 24 songs run under two minutes. "Glocking Out" lasts 11 seconds, and the closer, "Four More Years," is the only one past four. Foresta explained the brevity this way: "I have a short attention span, so 40 seconds is all you can grab me for." Alexis Mabry drew the cover, with design by Orion Landau, and it breaks with the band's earlier artwork by putting a defaced Rudy Giuliani at the podium instead of Ronald Reagan.
