1986 US pressing, RCA AJL1-5847, pressed at RCA Records Pressing Plant, Indianapolis
This is RCA's American LP of Revenge, pressed in Indianapolis from lacquers that Yves Delaunay cut in Paris. His initials, Y.D., are stamped into the runout of both sides, which ties the US issue to his French mastering rather than to a new American cut.
The object
A single stereo LP, issued with a full-color printed inner sleeve carrying the lyrics and credits. The runouts combine the side numbers AJL1 5847A and AJL1 5847B with the Y.D. mark, and some stampers add the I that identifies Indianapolis metalwork.
Laurence Stevens is credited with the sleeve design and Eric Scott with the paintings. Manufacture and distribution are credited to RCA/Ariola International.
Context
Revenge was released in the UK on 30 June 1986 and in the US on 14 July 1986, so AJL1-5847 belongs to the album's first year in American shops and is not a later reissue. Dave Stewart produced the record, which was recorded at Conny's Studio in Cologne and Studio de la Grande Armee in Paris and mixed in Paris.
The album
The history of Revenge as a work sits on its album page; this listing covers the Indianapolis-pressed RCA edition.
