Chess Acoustic Sounds Series 180-Gram Vinyl LP in a Tip-On Gatefold Jacket
This edition of Tell Mama belongs to the Chess Records Acoustic Sounds Series, the audiophile reissue line marking Chess's 75th anniversary. Matthew Lutthans cut it from the original analog tapes, and Quality Record Pressings pressed it on 180-gram vinyl. It comes in a tip-on gatefold jacket printed on high-grade board, and it is Etta James's second title in the series after At Last!
Released in 1968, Tell Mama was James's seventh studio album and her second for Chess's Cadet imprint. She cut it with producer Rick Hall at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, backed by the studio's session players, after Chess began bringing its artists to the Alabama studio.
The twelve tracks run from the title song to "Just A Little Bit," and include her version of Otis Redding's "Security" and "I'd Rather Go Blind," which UMe calls one of the most successful recordings of her career.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.
