Limited Orange Marble Vinyl

This Jackpot Records reissue (JPR-117) presses Etta James's second studio album on a limited run of orange marble vinyl. It is an all-analog (AAA) cut from the original master tapes, and Kevin Gray mastered it at Cohearent Audio. His KPG@CA mark is etched in the runout of both sides. The record is licensed from Universal Music Enterprises via Geffen Records. It comes in a plain white poly-lined inner sleeve, and the hype sticker on the shrink-wrap carries the barcode. Side A runs 14:05 and side B 13:06.

Argo Records first issued The Second Time Around in 1961. Phil and Leonard Chess produced it, as they had her debut, At Last!, and Riley Hampton arranged and conducted the orchestra. Three singles came from the album: "Fool That I Am," "Don't Cry Baby" and "Seven Day Fool." "Don't Cry Baby" reached No. 6 on the R&B chart. James P. Johnson wrote that song, with lyrics by Saul Bernie and Stella Unger, and Bessie Smith first recorded it in 1929. The album also covers pop and jazz standards, among them "One For My Baby," "Dream" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore." AllMusic's Richie Unterberger gave it four stars out of five.

• Refund timing may vary depending on your payment provider

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.
