Heavyweight Black Vinyl LP in Reverse Board Gatefold

This is the standard vinyl edition of Giants of All Sizes: one heavyweight black LP in a reverse board gatefold sleeve with a download code, Polydor catalog number 7764402. Four songs sit on side A and five on side B. The gatefold opens out the cover photograph of a crowded swimming pool in China, an image the band chose because it held as many people as possible.

Elbow released their eighth studio album on October 11, 2019, and it entered the UK Albums Chart at No. 1, their third studio album in a row to top it. Craig Potter produced and mixed it, as he had the four before. Recording took place at Clouds Hill in Hamburg, The Dairy in Brixton, 604 Studios in Vancouver and Blueprint Studios in Salford, with more done in band members' home studios around Manchester. Jesca Hoop, The Plumedores and Chilli Chilton appear as guests.

Guy Garvey has described the album as "an angry, old blue lament which finds its salvation in family, friends, the band and new life." His lyrics take in Brexit and the Grenfell Tower fire, the subject of "White Noise White Heat." The liner notes are dedicated to Garvey's father and to two Manchester friends of the band, Scott Alexander and Jan Oldenburg, all of whom died while the record was being made. "Dexter & Sinister," the first single, takes its name from the two sides of a heraldic shield. "On Deronda Road" recalls a bus ride with Garvey's young son, and the closing "Weightless" ties that son's arrival to his father's death.
