This 35th anniversary edition of Death Shall Rise, the second album by UK death metal band Cancer, is pressed on limited blue marble vinyl by Peaceville Records.
Death Shall Rise was first released on May 24, 1991, on Vinyl Solution, following the band's debut To The Gory End. It was recorded at Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida, and produced by Scott Burns with the band.
The core trio of John Walker on guitar and vocals, Ian Buchanan on bass and Carl Stokes on drums was joined by lead guitarist James Murphy, whose credits include Death, Obituary and Disincarnate. Glen Benton of Deicide sings backing vocals on "Hung, Drawn and Quartered." The cover art is by Junior Tomlin.
Cancer went on to record seven studio albums, including a stint on EastWest under Warner Music. Shadow Gripped in 2018 reunited the core band for the first time since 1995, and Inverted World followed in 2025. Peaceville's notes call Death Shall Rise "one of the classic pillars of the genre."
