1987 US reissue, Heartbeat Records HB18, pressed by Wakefield Manufacturing
Heartbeat Records reissued Guess Who's Coming To Dinner in 1987 as HB18, with mastering and pressing both credited to Wakefield Manufacturing. The spine prints the catalog number as HB18, while the back cover and the labels shorten it to 18.
The object
Two stampers are documented for HB18, and on both the runout carries the WM mark of Wakefield Manufacturing with the number 41610, reading WM 41610-A on side A and WM 41610-B on side B. The same 41610 is printed on the Heartbeat labels.
On the back of the Canadian-made jacket, Rounder Records Corporation dates this edition 1987; photography is credited to Deborah Feingold and design to Susan Marsh.
Context
Six of these seven songs first came out in 1979 on Showcase, eight years before HB18. "Shine Eye Gal", which opens side A here, was not on that record. The HB18 labels keep a 1983 Poli-Rhythm copyright and state that the record is produced under license from Darace Music.
