Indie Exclusive Opaque Blue Vinyl, Gatefold With Die-Cut O-Card
Back To Land was the first Wooden Shjips record conceived outside San Francisco. Ripley Johnson and Omar Ahsanuddin had moved to Oregon, and Thrill Jockey's notes credit the climate there with shaping the writing; acoustic guitar enters the band's palette for the first time. The quartet is Johnson on vocals and guitar, Dusty Jermier on bass, Nash Whalen on keyboards and Ahsanuddin on drums, and Johnson wrote all eight songs.
They recorded it over eleven days in May 2013 at Jackpot! Recording Studio in Portland, with Kendra Lynn engineering and Larry Crane mixing. Roger Seibel mastered it at SAE Mastering and Record Technology Incorporated did the plating. Oliver Hibert made the artwork and Sheila Sachs the layout. Thrill Jockey first released it on 12 November 2013 and point to Les Rallizes Denudes, Crazy Horse, Suicide and the Velvet Underground as the band's reference points.
The packaging is unchanged from that first pressing: virgin vinyl in a gatefold jacket with high-gloss UV printing, housed in a deluxe die-cut O-card, with a free download coupon. What is new in 2026 is the colour, an opaque blue.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.

Delivery timelines are estimates, not guarantees.
Estimated delivery windows are quoted at checkout based on the shipping speed you select and your delivery address. Transit time begins after your order has been processed.
Typical delivery within the United States ranges from 3–7 business days after shipment, depending on location and selected service. Delivery times for Canada vary by destination and carrier, and may be affected by customs processing.
While most deliveries arrive within the quoted window, occasional delays may occur due to weather, carrier volume, or other factors outside our control.
Shipping Rates
Shipping costs are calculated and displayed at checkout based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed.
Signature Requirements
Orders totaling over $250 may require a signature upon delivery to help ensure safe receipt. This is applied based on order value and carrier guidelines.
