Still Coming Down is Wild Pink's sixth album, following 2024's Dulling The Horns. John Ross leads the band, and The Guardian has called him "one of the best lyricists in indie music."

Alex Farrar produced and engineered the record at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, North Carolina. Meg Duffy of Hand Habits plays guitar on it, and three members of Wednesday appear: Jake Lenderman, who records as MJ Lenderman, along with Landon George and Xandy Chelmis. Fire Talk describes the songs as written from life on the road.

Wes Sterrs directed a four-chapter visual collection to accompany the album. "Round of Applause at the End of the World" is the first chapter and "Box Store" the second.
