Music On Vinyl's reissue of the 1990 Jive compilation, cut to a single 180 gram LP and pressed in gold. Catalog number MOVLP4029.

Whodini emerged from the early-1980s New York hip-hop scene alongside Afrika Bambaataa, Kurtis Blow and Run-DMC, and signed to Jive while the label was still run out of London. John "Ecstasy" Fletcher and Jalil Hutchins shared a manager, Russell Simmons, and a producer, Larry Smith, with Run-DMC; the pressing's labels credit Smith with "Funky Beat," "One Love" and "Friends."

The group's debut single, "Magic's Wand," was produced by Thomas Dolby, who worked on their 1983 self-titled album alongside Conny Plank. Music On Vinyl's notes credit it as the first rap record to get its own video on MTV. Escape, from 1984, was produced entirely by Smith.

"Friends" was the group's only entry on the Hot 100. Rolling Stone described it as "fertile sampling ground for generations of rappers."
