Vinyl LP with Printed Inner Sleeve, Lyric Insert & Download Card

This is the standard retail LP of Weezer's tenth studio album, issued by Crush Music on April 1, 2016 under catalog number 554625-1. One disc carries all ten songs, five to a side. The jacket holds a printed inner sleeve, a lyric insert and a card for a download of the full album.

The record was the band's first for Crush Music, distributed by Atlantic, and its first with producer Jake Sinclair. It started with a suggestion from Jonathan Daniel of Crush Management that Weezer make a "beach album." Rivers Cuomo took that idea to the West Side of Los Angeles, around Venice and Santa Monica, and called the result "a '90s grungy take on '60s pop songs."

Sinclair and Cuomo built the album outward from an acoustic demo of "California Kids," a song Cuomo co-wrote with Dan Wilson, recorded at Sinclair's home studio. The first song tracked for the album was "Do You Wanna Get High?". For "Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori" and "L.A. Girlz," Cuomo pieced the lyrics together using cut-up and spreadsheet methods. Guitarist Brian Bell and Luther Russell share writing credit on "L.A. Girlz."

The album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4, with 49,000 copies in its first week. It went on to a Best Rock Album nomination at the 59th Grammy Awards. Five singles were released from it, including "Thank God for Girls," "King of the World" and "California Kids."
