Standard Ten-Track CD

This is the North American compact disc of Death to False Metal, issued by DGC on November 2, 2010 under catalog number B0014309-02, the same day the deluxe edition of Pinkerton reached stores. It gathers previously unreleased Weezer recordings from across the band's career, and it debuted at number 48 on the Billboard 200.

Ten tracks is what separates this disc from its overseas counterparts. The European CD runs to eleven with "Outta Here" added, the Japanese issue closes on both "Yellow Camaro" and "Outta Here," and the digital album carried a version of "Mykel & Carli" that appears on neither.

The songs come from several distinct eras. "Everyone" and "Trampoline" were recorded in 1998, during the gap between Pinkerton and the Green Album, while "I Don't Want Your Loving," "Blowin' My Stack," "Losing My Mind," "I'm a Robot" and the closing cover of Diane Warren's "Unbreak My Heart," a hit for Toni Braxton, all trace back to the Make Believe sessions. The opener, "Turning Up the Radio," grew out of Rivers Cuomo's 2008 YouTube project Let's Write a Sawng, in which fans submitted titles, chord progressions and melodies; the finished song credits 17 co-writers and was once in consideration for Raditude.

The project circulated under the working title Odds and Ends. Cuomo counts it as Weezer's ninth studio album, while band historian Karl Koch has described it as "sort of like Weezer's version of Rivers' Alone records." Producers across the set include Rick Rubin and Shawn Everett, the booklet credits mastering to Dave Collins and lists Death Star Studios in Portland, Oregon among its recording rooms, and Robert Pitt's cover painting borrows the look of a Jehovah's Witnesses tract. AllMusic gave the album four stars out of five; Metacritic's average across 13 reviews came to 56.
