[PREORDER] Weezer - 1192 (Black Vinyl)

This is the black vinyl pressing of 1192, catalog number EJRC236RP, which followed the grey vinyl Record Store Day edition of April 18, 2026. Ernest Jenning Record Co. lists the black pressing at 10,000 copies. Ten tracks, five to a side.

The record collects Weezer's first studio session, recorded in November 1992 by the original lineup of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp and guitarist Jason Cropper; the title is the month and year of the session. In the label's account these are the recordings that earned the band its record contract, which NME dates to Geffen in 1993.

Sharp, the band's founding bassist, found the multitrack reel, a 1-inch Ampex tape, while going through his own archive of unreleased recordings. He and producer Joe Chicarrelli took it to East/West Studios in Los Angeles, where Sharp produced and Chicarrelli remixed the songs in an entirely analog process, from tape to vinyl. Four songs from the same session had circulated for years as "The Real Demo"; Exclaim! reports that this mix is new.

Five songs appear in ten versions, all five of them later recorded for the band's 1994 debut. "Say It Ain't So" appears three times, as two takes and a vocal and guitar mix. "No One Else" appears as two takes, "Undone - The Sweater Song" in an acoustic mix and a band mix, and "The World Has Turned And Left Me Here" in a band mix and a vocal and guitar mix. "Surf Wax America" appears once.
