Indie Exclusive 180 Gram Black Vinyl

Seelie Court returns Julian Mount's 1973 private pressing to vinyl as AX003LP, cut in mono on 180 gram black vinyl. The obi strip files the record under acid folk and dates the session to 1972.

Mount made it at home in North Watford, Hertfordshire, on an open reel tape recorder with a single microphone, and produced it himself; he has said microphone placement was crucial. Thirteen of the fourteen songs are his own. "Nottamun Town" is the one traditional arrangement, and the album takes its title from a line in "Unsung Harmonies."

Mount sings and plays six- and twelve-string guitar. David Barnett plays acoustic lead guitar and Mike Woolley rhythm guitar, with Steve Kerridge and Garry Richardson completing the group.

The original was cut by Deroy, one of only two firms in Britain then able to supply short-run private releases, and sold at Mount's own gigs; he sent one copy to the DJ John Peel and one to the mayor of Watford. Mount has said the highest price a copy has reached is 1,250 pounds. Seelie Court's notes cite a full five-disc rarity rating in Hans Pokora's 4001 Record Collector Dreams, and the obi strip describes the album as "among the rarest and most valuable UK private-press folk records of its time."

The sleeve reproduces Marc Radley's original drawing. Klemen Breznikar contributes new liner notes.
