Indie Exclusive Canary Yellow 2LP

Craft Recordings' indie exclusive pressing of Add It Up (1981-1993): two canary yellow LPs in a gatefold jacket, catalog number CR00374, manufactured in the United States. The disc labels carry the 1993 compilation copyright alongside Craft's own compilation mark, and side one runs five tracks, from "Intro" to "Gordon's Message."

Add It Up (1981-1993) collects 23 tracks from the Milwaukee trio's first twelve years. Alongside "Blister in the Sun," "American Music" and "Gone Daddy Gone" it carries demos, B-sides, interstitial voice recordings and rarities, and the last stretch of the set is live: "Lies," "Kiss Off," "Add It Up," "Vancouver" and "Johnny." Slash and Reprise first issued the compilation on September 14, 1993.

Violent Femmes formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band playing on the streets of Milwaukee; by the band's own account, Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps and the Velvet Underground were the influences it was working from at the time. The compilation follows that line to 1993.

The vinyl edition was cut by George Horn at Fantasy Studios, and it was the first time the compilation had been pressed since its original limited run.
