1984 US pressing, Real Authentic Sound RAS 3101, pressed by Hub-Servall
RAS Records of Washington, D.C. released A Reggae Christmas in 1984 under catalog number RAS 3101, with Doctor Dread and Freddie McGregor producing. Eight of the nine tracks were cut at Music Mountain Studio in Kingston with the Studio One Band; Eek-A-Mouse's The Night Before Christmas was recorded at Planet Sound in New York.
The object
RAS 3101 was mastered at Frankford/Wayne and pressed by Hub-Servall, and each runout carries HUB, MASTERING BY FRANKFORD/WAYNE and the initials PG beside the RAS-3101 matrix. Dick Bangham's cover shows Christmas stockings hung from a mantelpiece lined with framed photographs, the lead performers listed over the fireplace. Jim Fox mixed the record at Lion & Fox Recording Studios.
Context
This 1984 LP is the first issue of the RAS Christmas set. Attic Records released it in Canada the same year as LAT-1217, and RAS reissued it on CD in 1988 as RAS CD 3101.
