Four-Color Splatter Vinyl LP, Limited to 4,800 Copies

Cosmic Stash: HIGH Lights is a single LP pressed on four-color splatter vinyl, a look the label says takes its cue from the jackets and discs of the original Cosmic Stash. Craft Recordings limited the run to 4,800 copies worldwide and issued it through Record Store Day as a U.S. exclusive, with select international retailers carrying smaller allocations. The label states that the U.S. edition carries a "prescription" insert and comes housed in an oversized bag.

The record marks ten years of Jazz Dispensary, the imprint Craft Recordings launched in 2016 with the Cosmic Stash box set on Record Store Day. That set ran to four LPs, each a themed "blend" (Soul Diesel, Purple Funk, OG Kush and Astral Travelin') pressed on translucent-colored vinyl. HIGH Lights pulls selections from all four blends into one nine-track sequence drawn from the Prestige, Milestone and Fantasy catalogs. The imprint's later Record Store Day compilations include The Dank D-Funk Blend (2019) and Night Lights (2025), and Craft Recordings president Sig Sigworth is its founder.

The lineup runs through Patrice Rushen, Funk, Inc., David Axelrod, The Blackbyrds, Gary Bartz NTU Troop, Johnny Lytle, Jack DeJohnette and Johnny Hammond. Side A opens on a 7-inch edit of Rusty Bryant's "Fire Eater," the title track of the tenor saxophonist's 1971 Prestige album, recorded at Van Gelder Studio with Bob Porter producing. Jazz Dispensary marked the release with listening parties at more than 180 record stores across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the U.K., Australia, Germany and beyond.
