Sensuous Forest Vinyl · Numbered Limited Edition · 180g LP

The Sensuous Forest pressing takes its name from the third track on Side A and splits one 180g disc into orange, green and purple. Analog Dept.'s own notes describe the colorway as resembling the curtain in Cop 663's apartment. This is a numbered Analog Dept. and Light in the Attic release; the sticker on the shrink gives the pressing code 602445322152-SF.

Wong Kar-wai's 1994 film tells two stories in sequence, each about a Hong Kong policeman turning over a relationship. Takeshi Kaneshiro plays the first, preoccupied with a breakup and an encounter with a drug smuggler; Tony Leung plays the second, pulled out of his gloom by a snack bar worker. The soundtrack album followed in 1995.

Faye Wong appears twice, both times in Cantonese and both times on a Western song. 夢中人 opens Side A on The Cranberries' "Dreams", written by Dolores O'Riordan; 胡思亂想 opens the closing run of Side B on a song written by Elizabeth Fraser. Adrian Chan arranged both, with Cantonese lyrics by 周禮茂 and Lin Xi respectively. Nine instrumental cues by Frankie Chan and Roel A. Garcia carry English titles beside the Chinese — "Chasing the Metaphysical Express", "Fornication in Space", "Entering the Hardboiled Wonderland" — and the record ends on three outside recordings: The Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreamin'", The Flying Pickets' "Only You" and Dinah Washington's "What a Difference a Day Made". Fourteen tracks, six on Side A and eight on Side B.
