Mint & White Blend Vinyl
A twentieth-anniversary pressing in a silver mirrorboard jacket with a printed inner sleeve carrying the full credits. The disc is a two-color blend, mint below and white above, and the hype sticker on the shrink words it as Mint and White Blend. Pressed in the Czech Republic by GZ Media; catalog number UO1.
The record is band-owned and self-released, with Many Hats handling physical distribution. The recording itself remains licensed from Tooth & Nail and Solid State, and the inner sleeve carries the line "℗2004 & ©2020 Tooth & Nail Records / Solid State Records." No new mastering is credited anywhere on the package: the only mastering credit printed is Troy Glessner at Spectre Studios, who mastered the album in 2004.
They're Only Chasing Safety is Underoath's fourth studio album, issued on June 15, 2004 through Solid State Records as TND83184. Vocalist Dallas Taylor left during the 2003 Warped Tour and departed officially that October. Spencer Chamberlain, then fronting the Tampa band This Runs Through, turned the job down at first, filled in for a handful of dates the band would otherwise have cancelled, and was asked again as his own group wound down. He sings on this record.
James Paul Wisner produced and engineered it at his Florida studio, Wisner Productions, in February 2004. J.R. McNeely mixed at Compound Studios, Matt Goldman recorded additional vocals and programming, and Aaron Marsh of Copeland sings on "Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape."
The album reached No. 101 on the Billboard 200 and No. 7 on Top Christian Albums, and the RIAA certified it Gold on December 14, 2011. It had sold more than 218,000 copies in the United States by 2005, and the October 2005 CD/DVD re-release added roughly 279,000 more.
The cover photograph is of Julie McCaddon, wife of the record's designer Kris McCaddon, wearing an oxygen mask.
