This is Shapes Of Midnight on black vinyl, the edition Killer Candy Records presses for record shops around the world. By the label's own published pressing numbers it is the largest of the album's four vinyl runs at 2,000 copies, against 1,500 of the North American purple, 750 of the European Black Ice Sparkle and 150 of the red-and-white Cornetto sold through the label's webstore. The single LP carries eight songs, and the label's track timings add up to 45 minutes.

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats made their first record, Vol. 1, in 2010, and followed it with Blood Lust in 2011, Mind Control in 2013, The Night Creeper in 2015, Wasteland in 2018 and Nell' Ora Blu in 2024. Of the early records, The Quietus wrote that Blood Lust "quickly garnered rabid cult status amongst the worldwide doom fraternity." In November and December 2013 the band opened 16 European dates of Black Sabbath's reunion tour.

Two songs reached listeners before the album did. "Don't Let It Control You," the video above and the fourth song here, came out in April 2026 as the first single, three months before the album was announced. The title track was unveiled with the announcement in July, and Consequence noted the "psych-prog middle section" that nods toward space rock.
