This is ESTRUS on compact disc, packaged as a digipak with a four-page booklet. Its thirteen songs run a little over 32 minutes, opening on the 50-second "a lot of feelings, no solutions."

Ludvig Söderberg co-wrote ten of the thirteen with Lo, and A Strut produced most of the album. Oscar Görres wrote and produced "I'm the cake" with her, Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser produced "F.A.M.T," and Lo shares the production credit on "idiot." Sessions took place at House Mouse in Stockholm, MXM in Los Angeles, Perikles in Torekov and Mosaert Label in Brussels.

Three singles came ahead of the album: "I'm your girl right?" on May 13, 2026, "des fleurs" with Stromae on June 12, and "DNH" on July 29. The video for the first was directed by Nogari, who also made her 2023 video for "Borderline."

Born Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson in Helsingborg, Sweden, Lo broke through with "Habits (Stay High)," which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and co-wrote Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do." ESTRUS is her second album on Pretty Swede, after Dirt Femme in 2022.
