1977 MCA reissue, MCA-3024, pressed at Pinckneyville
Who's Next first appeared on Decca in 1971. This is the 1977 MCA Records reissue, catalog number MCA-3024, pressed at MCA's plant in Pinckneyville, Illinois. It carries the album's former Decca number, DL7-9182, alongside its new one.
The object
A single LP on MCA's brown label. Both sides of the runout carry a P set between two diamonds, the Pinckneyville plant mark, and TML-M, which identifies a lacquer cut at The Mastering Lab. Side B also shows a Gloversville plant stamp that has been struck through. The deadwax matrix numbers are MG7-12888 for side A and MG7-12889 for side B.
Context
Six years separate the album from this pressing. By 1977 MCA had brought Decca's American catalog under its own name and numbering, which is why one record carries two catalog numbers.
