The Who By Numbers was the band's seventh studio album, released in October 1975 and produced by Glyn Johns, with a sleeve drawn by John Entwistle. It reached No. 7 in the UK and No. 8 on the Billboard 200, and "Squeeze Box" went top 10 in the UK, top 20 in the US and No. 1 in Canada.

This Deluxe edition presents the album newly remastered on 180-gram vinyl across three records, with a booklet of rare photographs and memorabilia from the era. Sides one and two carry the original album. Sides three through six hold Who Put The Boot In, the band's set at Vetch Field, Swansea, on 12 June 1976, the last of three football-ground shows that summer and, as the band's own site notes, Keith Moon's final full concert in front of a British audience. The mix tapes have been restored to running order for this release; seven of the sixteen performances are previously unreleased.
