Cadiz Music presses As Filthy As We Wanna Be, the full-length debut from The Mary Tyler Whores, on vomit green and blood colored vinyl in a gatefold jacket. Fifteen tracks, produced by Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks and Bad Religion at Hetson Sound Studios in Encino, California. Angelo Moore of Fishbone plays saxophone on "Clamjacked," and Riff Raff and Mike G appear on the closer, "World Against Me." The set also carries the band's cover of Devo's "Whip It."

The band came out of South Florida around singer Frankie "Crime" Cassara and guitarist Doobie Tyler Whore, with the late Joey Image, formerly of the Misfits, on drums in the early lineup. They shared bills with Iggy Pop, GBH, Murphy's Law, The Casualties and The Bouncing Souls. By the band's own account, their shows featured audience food fights, and a prosthetic leg once thrown at the singer stayed on as a stage prop.

Cassara revived the group in 2023 with much of the original crew, adding bassist Aaron "The Proj" Miller; the current lineup is completed by lead guitarist Rob Deuce and drummer George "Korky" Kokkoris. "White Trash Girl" and "American Sex Fiend" arrived as singles in 2024 with videos directed by Daryl Scott, followed by "Savage World," which Cassara calls "a brutal reminder that no one is immune to life's savage blows." "Hell On Wheels" grew from a line someone kept shouting at practice, "My grandma drives a '58"; Doobie's grandmother did drive a 1958 Chevrolet, Cassara told Vive Le Rock. The label quotes Iggy Pop: "A glorious infection of pure punk chaos."
