1982 US pressing, A&M Records SP-4892, pressed by Electrosound Group Midwest
This is the A&M edition of Dare issued in the US under license from Virgin Records, with SP-4892-A and SP·4892-B printed on the labels in place of the SP-6-4892 carried by the label variant beside it. The EMW mark in the side B runout identifies Electrosound Group Midwest as the plant, and side A carries the Artisan Sound Recorders stamp with the initials GF of cutting engineer Greg Fulginiti.
The object
One LP in a gatefold jacket, with a printed inner sleeve that carries the credits on one side and the lyrics on the other. Both runouts are inscribed with the SP0-6-4892 stem and a -2 suffix; side A adds the Artisan logo and GF, and side B adds EMW.
Context
Dare was first released in the UK by Virgin on October 16, 1981, as V2192. This A&M pressing is the 1982 US issue, licensed from Virgin Records Ltd, of the album the group recorded at Genetic Sound with producer Martin Rushent.
