This edition marks twenty years since Young Machetes, the fifth and final studio album by The Blood Brothers. Epitaph presents it across two LPs pressed on black and white galaxy vinyl, and the label's notes describe the collector's edition as adding rare remixes, never-before-seen photos and a new retrospective.

The first LP carries the first twelve tracks of the original sequence. The second closes the album with "Huge Gold AK-47," "Street Wars / Exotic Foxholes" and "Giant Swan," then adds three remixes: Nick Zinner's version of "Laser Life" and Gajamagic's reworkings of "Nausea Shreds Yr Head" and "Street Wars / Exotic Foxholes."

Young Machetes was first released on October 10, 2006, on V2 Records. It was recorded at Robert Lang Studios in Shoreline, Washington, and produced by John Goodmanson with Fugazi's Guy Picciotto. "Laser Life" was issued as a single in 2006 and "Set Fire to the Face on Fire" followed in 2007.

The Blood Brothers formed in August 1997 in the suburbs east of Seattle: Jordan Blilie and Johnny Whitney on vocals, Cody Votolato on guitar, Morgan Henderson on bass and Mark Gajadhar on drums. Alternative Press described them in 2003 as a "molotov mixture of suburb surrealism and sonic extremity." Young Machetes closed a run of five studio albums that began with This Adultery Is Ripe in 2000. The band broke up in 2007 and has since reunited twice, in 2014 and again in 2024 for the twentieth anniversary of Crimes.
