Special Edition Deluxe 2CD With 40-Page Booklet

This two-disc Special Edition sets the new stereo mix of Rubber Soul by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell beside a 16-track second disc of session highlights, home demos and the non-album double A-side single that accompanied the album, "Day Tripper" / "We Can Work It Out". The discs come in a gatefold digisleeve with a 40-page booklet of detailed notes and rare photographs.

Apple Corps states that the new stereo mix is sourced directly from the original four-track master tapes, using de-mixing technology developed by the sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson's WingNut Films. Disc 1 runs the 14-song UK sequence first issued by Parlophone on 3 December 1965, rather than the Capitol edition sold in North America at the time, which carried ten of those fourteen songs. Within the campaign, the 2CD sits between the standard single-disc edition and the 4CD Super Deluxe box, which adds the original mono album, the Capitol US album version and an 88-page hardbound book.

Disc 2 opens with the single in its early stages: a songwriting work tape of "Day Tripper" and Paul McCartney's demo of "We Can Work It Out", each followed by the finished side in its 2023 mix. The rest of the disc moves through the album sessions in early takes and instrumental backing tracks. Among them is "Michelle (Take 1)", the first recording the Beatles shared from the Special Edition, on 29 July 2026, and a backing track of "Wait", a song whose rhythm track was taped during the Help! sessions in June 1965.

Rubber Soul was the Beatles' sixth album, recorded at EMI Studios in London over four weeks in October and November 1965, the first time the group could make an album free of concert, radio or film commitments. It topped the charts in Britain and the United States, and Ringo Starr later called it the band's "departure record".
