1985 US club edition, Modern Records 90479-1, RCA Music Service R-142050
This is the RCA Music Service mail-order issue of Rock A Little. The label carries Modern's retail catalogue number, 90479-1, while the club's own number, R-142050, is etched into the runout on both sides; the club numbered its LPs with an R prefix, which marks this as a club pressing rather than a retail copy. The album's other US club edition, pressed for Columbia House at Carrollton, does not carry that number.
The object
One LP on Modern Records, with label matrices ST-MR-85863 for side A and ST-MR-85864 for side B. The deadwax recorded for this issue carries the SRC logo of Specialty Records Corporation, the Warner-owned pressing plant in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, and the inscription Precision SM, for Stephen Marcussen at Precision Lacquer, who is credited with the mastering.
The jacket carries the printed barcode 0 7567-90479-1 5. Art direction and design are credited to Michael Hodgson.
Context
Modern first put Rock A Little out on 18 November 1985, and the club label shows the same 1985 copyright line, so this is a record-club run of the original release rather than a later reissue. Production is shared between Jimmy Iovine, Rick Nowels, Chas Sandford and Keith Olsen, with Stevie Nicks also credited as producer.
The album
For the history of Rock A Little itself, see the album page; this listing is confined to the R-142050 club copy.
