Squeeze - Sweets From A Stranger (1982, Indianapolis Non-Flap Pressing)

This is the RCA Indianapolis pressing of Sweets From A Stranger, identified by the "R" printed beside the A&M logo on both labels and by RCA etched into every runout. It is also the non-flap edition: the first US copies came with a perforated, removable promotional flap on the front cover, and this jacket was issued without one.

The object

A single LP on A&M labels with the matrix numbers SP-04899-A and SP-04899-B. The runouts on both sides are etched with the AM SP 04899 matrix and RCA. The record was issued with a custom inner sleeve.

Context

SP-4899 is the original US issue, pressed in 1982, the year the album was released. It was recorded at Ramport Studios, produced by Phil McDonald with the band, and mastered by Frank DeLuna at A&M Studios.
