1984 US and Canada pressing, Shanachie 43019, pressed by Europadisk
Shanachie released Liberation in 1984 for the United States and Canada under catalog number 43019, with manufacture and distribution credited to Boot Records. The disc was pressed by Europadisk, whose EDP-in-a-circle stamp appears in both runouts.
The object
Shanachie 43019 is one LP, its etched runouts reading SH-43019A 50C33015 478-8 on side 1 and SH-43019B 50C33015 478-8 on side 2. The back cover carries liner notes by Randall Grass.
Context
Shanachie 43019 is the compilation's first issue, from 1984, and an Australian edition followed in 1985. Sonny Okosun wrote, arranged and sang all six songs, backed by his band Ozziddi, with Gary Barnacle on saxophone and Luke Tunney on trumpet.
